Our Guest
Sydney Stein
Co-founder and CEO of Wimzē
Sydney Stein is the co-founder and CEO of Wimzē, a Brooklyn-based social storytelling agency working exclusively with mission-driven wellness brands. With experience in the digital space spanning over 7 years, Sydney has a holistic understanding of social media and how to use it to support overarching business objectives. Sydney’s professional interests bloomed at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she studied Journalism and Dance, and received a certificate in the Technology, Arts and Media Program (TAM). The TAM Program exposed her to the technical, theoretical and historical background of the emerging digital space.
Sydney’s professional career began in SEO, (Search Engine Optimization) as a content strategist and eventually a junior project manager, responsible for building out the social media department of a digital agency. It was at this time that she met her co-founder, Taylor Rohwedder and launched Wimzē. Wimzē was founded on the core concept of “mission alignment.” Good ideas come from good people that are inspired by positive impact. Wimzē is very committed to using the power of advertising with integrity and the goal of making the world a better, more livable place.
Wimzē has taught many workshops around Manhattan, Long Island and Los Angelos for independent entities, as well as NYC’s Small Business Services (SBS), Beauty X Summit and more. Some of the brands they’ve worked with include Indie Beauty Expo, Beauty Independent, World Science Festival, myWorth, Honest Marijuana, Pure Green and more.
While Sydney’s expertise lies in digital marketing and creative storytelling, her true passion is in understanding people and communities. She spends her morning commutes to Greenpoint reading books such as Daring Greatly, Emotional Intelligence 2.0, and The Second Mountain and listening to podcasts such as The Goop Podcast, Esther Perel and How I Built This. She is a proud high school mentor through iMentor’s NYC Chapter, a volunteer for her local animal rescue, and an all-around listener and fixer. Sydney is a big lover of the outdoors, bluegrass music and wandering the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming. She is also a part-time digital marketing instructor at General Assembly.
