#1 Social media is not a social network.
“An audience is totally different than a network.”
Social media is more about building an audience rather than a network. With apps like Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok, the formula is mostly about you sharing and your audience choosing whether or not to interact with you. Gina notes that each new follow does not add value to the other members of the audience and that is the main difference between building social media and social networks. A social network will continually add value for each member of the community through the network.
