We built our custom analytics tool to use in parallel with the other analytics providers. None of these services alone gives us the full picture. For instance, our internal analytics get more granular, giving us quick stats on which items are most bartered. Used together, these four tools give us everything we need to understand our users.
In the past we used Insightly, but it didn’t make sense for us to be leaving Gmail for it. At some point, it just became quicker to add contacts into Google Contacts ourselves, instead of going out of Gmail to load them in another dashboard. With Google Contacts, Google automatically imports the person’s Google Plus profile, auto-populating many of the fields, so it’s a huge time-saver for us.
There are four of us in NYC and the rest are remote, and Slack works really well for us. We integrate it with Trello, and when we do team exercises, we use Slack in conjunction with the call. I feel like if Slack had video on its free version, or if Skype had a better chat function, they could just knock each other out.
