The Base CRM pricing model is difficult to understand in the beginning; you have to look through the app itself to understand which features are unlocked on which pricing tier. We tested several CRMs but this one was the only one that had all the built-in features we needed and we did not have to install any extensions or develop plugins. It is not hard to change steps in the customer journey. It also allows us to assign contracts to different team members. The dashboard has a really useful overview that tells us how much money we have on outstanding leads. As our sales funnel is somewhat more complex than in a usual B2B startup, adaptability was an important issue for us. The one thing we would wish for is for direct integration possibilities with Trello.
For everything that has to do with tasks, we send emails. For all other internal communication we use Slack. It’s a lot of fun and very easy-to-use. Thanks to the integration possibilities you can do whatever you want with it. For instance, we integrated our Git repository, and we see newsletter signups.
We implemented a new tool for Microsoft: SendGrid. It was very easy to embed into our existing source code. We can create newsletters based on the data that we are aggregating, and the email component is integrated into our analytics.
Google Drive works well, except that in the last few months they had some outages. We also have issues that sometimes one of us makes changes on the local version of a document that is not the most updated one. We have called about these version conflicts but they were never able to resolve them.
We use Trello for higher level tasks, like keeping track of our goals. It is easy to use, cheap, the whole team likes it and it is also fun to use. We keep only the high level tasks in there because it gets difficult to navigate when you have multiple tasks. Everybody in the team uses their own task management software for low-level tasks. We are not that big yet, and we usually don’t track step-by-step fulfillment as long as the overarching goals get achieved.
