We have people in Philadelphia, New York and San Francisco, so we can keep in touch easily because of Slack and Dasher. Slack is for company conversations. What’s great is that Dash also integrates with Slack. When someone on our team asks for approval for funds, it’ll ring on all of our phones via text, email and Slack. There is no way to miss the alerts to approve funds. We’re definitely liking it. We’re still trying to figure out the best video conferencing platform, but Slack helps us stay in touch.
Some of our team also uses Dasher, a new chat app. One of our employees is one of the co-founders of Venmo and was big on Dasher, so they brought it over to Karmic Labs. I use Dasher to communicate with some people on the team, separate from the company conversations on Slack.
We use HubSpot for inbound content marketing campaigns and lead generation. It’s good for digital content that is searchable; it integrates to capture data and create email lists really well. Users give you their info to download a report from you, and that automatically gets funneled into HubSpot.
We currently use Xero for the ledger accounting portion.
We use our own product, Dash, for our expenses. It is terrifically easy. We are able to open up our cards to each other so we can all see how much we’re all using. We all spend from a set account, which makes managing company expenses so much easier than the alternatives. We integrate into all accounting software like FreshBooks, Xero, etc., and all data is transferred to your accounting software automatically.
