I wish we could use QuickBooks, but it just doesn’t work with the Swiss/European accounting standards. So we’ve outsourced accounting to a local firm and they have their own software, which literally runs on a computer in the basement that runs for that purpose.

We work with a bookkeeping startup. They use QuickBooks.

We chose to outsource because we do not have a lot of accounting steps to take care of. It is also better for consistency.

It is pretty difficult to use an out-of the box solution in Italy, because of all the different rules and regulations. We use some old style software like Zucchetti.

We use QuickBooks Online, outsourced to a CFO.

Our HR is outsourced to an agent. My general philosophy is to reduce friction and to focus my time on the thing we really care about (our analysis system).

We used to use Gusto because we didn’t want to use Zenefits. Someone told us what Zenefits was doing was illegal, and it turns out it was. Gusto didn’t offer benefits when we outsourced our HR administration.
Co-founder & CEO - Occasion
One of our investors manages accounting and HR administration for us.

We partially keep track of our finances in Excel. Eventually, we are looking to use an ERP system.
Founder & CEO - Mifold
We decided to outsource because we found it more cost-effective. It is one less thing we have to deal with.

We use PBG, a Chicago based accounting team which was recommended to me by my attorney.

Right now our payroll is outsourced to a company in Canada, but we’ve been looking at Gusto. The one we’re using only works in Canada, and Gusto will be better for our payroll in the States.

We have an accounting team in Singapore that handles our payroll.
Co-founder & CEO - Nitrous
We have our own accountant because accounting software right now can’t really handle bitcoin. I also don’t want to spend any minute of my day handling accounting. That’s what accountants are for.

We are a small shop and do a lot of our onboarding and culture building in person simply by hanging out with each other and bonding casually.

We use an outsourced accountant who uses FreshBooks. FreshBooks allows us to do timesheets, but we can’t pay people from it. I previously had someone set up QuickBooks for me, but I stopped working with that accountant, and I found that QuickBooks wasn’t cost effective.

We outsource our HR to a firm, and they provide us a portal to log into; we don’t use any special HR software.
Co-founder - FullContact
Our outsourced accountant manages everything.

I have an outsourced accountant that handles HR for me. In Israel, we cannot use software like Gusto or Intuit, and it’s a problem.
Co-founder & CEO - Rollout.io
We use 2 part-time bookkeepers who are incredible and take care of all our HR. We’ve tried Justworks in the past and think their product is fantastic, but as we now have bookkeepers who support our team part-time, we decided it didn’t make sense to retain both services. If we didn’t have our bookkeepers, we would absolutely be using them.
Co-founder & CEO - Priori Legal
We outsource payroll services. Our service provider is using a local system called Shiklulit.
Founder & CEO - Shoppimon
We use an outsourced bookkeeping firm.

In the past, we were using inDinero, but we were not that happy with them. I appreciated their design and how everything was tech-company focused, but it wasn’t working for us. There seemed to be some growing pains there and it felt easy to get lost in the shuffle of their many users. Ultimately, we really just needed to get our taxes done! You want a responsive, human accountant to talk to, and they did not provide us with that. They definitely over-promised on a lot of things. As we grew bigger, the stakes got higher, and it didn’t make sense to stay with them. We’re now using an outsourced accounting firm based here in New York.
Co-founder - Kinnek
We have an accountant who does our accounting for us.

We're based in Slovakia. The system is so complicated that it's just easier to outsource that.
Co-founder - Cloudo
We use a freelance accountant who tracks all of this in Excel.
Co-founder & CEO - sli.do
Right now our finances are pretty straightforward, so I hardly deal with it at all. I just dump it all into an Excel spreadsheet and then send it off to our accountant who uses QuickBooks.
